hello you all and greetings from finland :--)
my name is marjo and i'm 15 (16 in december) years old. i'm living in a little village in central finland and i'm waiting for the results of the upper secondary school applications so i don't actually know where i'm going to study in the autumn.
i watched first alas smith & jones like in winter 2007 and loved it. my love for that show is still strong. one finnish tv channel has shown it for quite a long time and i've watched every episode :--D like two or three weeks ago i was in some supermarket and i glanced the dvd sale there. i almost started to cry when i saw the not the nine o'clock news vol 1 -dvd there! i've watched it three times now. mr rhys jones attracted my attention already in alas smith & jones and now i found this great website (thanks polina!) and i thought it would be nice to meet other grj-fans! :--)

Hello marjo - it's lovely to see you here! Hello and welcome. I'm glad you like the site! You're very lucky having Smith & Jones on tv so recently - it's ages since they've been shown in full over here!
Thankyou for saying hello - looking forward to seeing you here!

Hiya, the moment I saw this forum I knew I had to become a member! So very stylish - the colouring and design. Very nice to look at. :-) Being invited like this Fanny Bones - do come and join us! made it impossible not to join, but, alas, I had some difficulties registering. But, here I am. Am I the first German to join this forum? I remember, when I first came to Britain there was a lot of noise about the Diana & Charles wedding. The Royal Wedding it was called. There was even a book with that name. So, it was very refreshing to find a subversive book called NOT The Royal Wedding taking the p. Sadly, at the time it was too expensive for me to buy. For more than two decades I regretted that I haven't bought it! They showed a few Alas Smith & Jones shows on German TV (that's how Griff caught my attention), but they suffered quite a bit from translation, so GRJ isn't famous at all over here. Nevertheless I found especially the head to head skits extraordinary. Three or four years ago I had the opportunity to get my hands on some recordings - original, undubbed ones - and instantaneously I got hooked. Months later I discovered Mel's and Griff's involvement in NTNOCN. Shortly after that I found out about the books that were released to accompany NTNOCN and that one of these books had the title NOT The Royal Wedding. Can you imagine how glad I am that I finally got a copy of that one? So, in a way you can call me a GRJ fan since 1981. That was before I even heard his name or saw any of his television/radio work. Strange, eh? ;D

Hello - very pleased to meet you! So this is how you managed to have such an excellent knowledge of the sketches, aha....
Sorry you had trouble with registration - do let me know if there are any other technical problems and I will get them sorted out.
Wonderful to have another fan of Griff's on here! I hope we see you on here much.

Again, cheers to the both of you Polina and Lady Jacqueline for the warm welcome! No problems so far, thank heavens. I may have one or the other suggestion later, but first I'd rather roam around the forums a bit.
