I have a gig now on 29th - I think that's just snookered my tentative plan.
You'll all have to take notes for me! I'm very envious, it sounds fantastic!

Not long now I'm really looking forward to this and my mum still doesn't know . I might tell she'll need to pack a boat for the trip.

I've not much spare time at moment, so will post more details later. Just wanted to quickly say how fantastic was that?! I came back from the Lakes late yesterday and my mum and I had a wonderful trip. I didn't tell her where we were heading but as we headed up north on the M6 we were running out of options so she guessed correctly in the end:) She still had no idea why we were going to the Lakes though. We went out for an Italian meal on Friday evening and I said I'd give her 2 clues. First being 'Cadbury' and the second 'Wales' (going to one of Griff's cottages next year). She jumped up with surprise look saying loudly 'Griff Rhys Jones' I just grinned. We went to the evening chat and he was brilliant. I could have stayed all through the night listening to him talking about all his experiences. I'll come back later and post more:)

I'm staying at Trehilyn Uchaf in March. Sorry for delay.. back to Griff:) He came out in the middle of the audience and just started chatting about everything that he has done, from Smith and Jones days up to present. It was fun to listen to him talking about all his adventures and getting to hear the behind the scenes look at the shows. He mentioned how he was very nervous about the first climb he did for Mountains, one foot wrong and it's a long way down! The camera guy just walks backwards across as if it was no effort at all. Very funny. He did the actions and had everyone laughing. He discussed his new role in Oliver and how it would make a wonderful Christmas present hehe. The evening was for Charity and you could buy some of his books there. He informed us that it was only 27 days till Christmas and these books would make wonderful presents. I got one, but it was a present for myself!! He talked about Undina and his first tip to the Baltic (from his book) and it was funny as he said they picked that route as they could always see land on their journey.. not something you would think would be a factor. He had a break in the middle and then came back to do question and answers and more talk about RIvers. After all the floods in the Lakes he wondered if this was the best place to be talking about how great it was being on the water. He started with the questions by firstly saying 'that he is fine, has a big fan club, been offered his own show as long as I (Griff) stays away. He had a bite wound on his ear the sunday, but it was fine now:) Some people did look confused but the majority were grinning and going awww, as we knew it was Cadbury. Most people were my mum's age or older so when we waiting to get our books signed I think he looked shocked to see a younger person there!! I did go very shy I have to confess! But it was great to be there and get to meet him too. We could have stayed all night listening to him:) It was my first time up to the Lakes too and Bowness was lovely. Could see the signs of last week's floods, but here only the lakeside was effected. My mum is still beaming over her birthday present:) I am still amazed I kept it secret

He also talked about what he enjoyed doing most and it was the work in Pembrokeshire and the experience of working along side George. x

Hi Vixen, it was brilliant. I was thinking whilst I was there that it would be great if Stephen Fry did something like that too. They are 2 people I could listen to all day and night chatting. I spoke briefly too him, my shyness overcame me!! Very bad timing hehe
