I'm not an American! Not that I'd be ashamed if I was, but I'm English... My point is: You are the host here. If someone can take part in a discussion then that is you. And nobody but you and Lady Jacqueline have the right to exclude a member from a thread. ...I've just spent a lot of time in Golders Green ;D I looked it up. Nice place. Sigmund Freud was cremated there. Marc Bolan spent his childhood in that area. Is there a connection? ;D A very well rounded essay Fanny Bones, Thank you! I found a few mistakes, though. I'll edit them out as soon as I find my electric eraser. Ah, got it: *zzzz* As far as I'm concerned you may say anything that flatters me. ;D

HappyHaggis, I took the liberty of editing your post to tweak the link as it wasn't working!
Thank you for that! ;D

Nice blog, the latest is that anglers and the Environment Agency, are planning to prosecute canoeists under the SAFFA Act (Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act) 1975. This Act was initially designed to stop things such as gravel extraction, pollution and poaching. There were threats to use it in 2007, which came to nothing, but canoeists have been informed that we will be prosecuted for "wilfully damaging spawining redds". Hello all. I know it's been a while since this thread had an update-so my apologies. I am an active paddler and last contacted this site to congratulate Griff for his comments on river access. Anyway, there is currently a 38 degrees campaign suggestion for : improved access rights in EnglandIf you do want to lend your support, make sure you vote-don't just comment. Even better, harangue your MP about it! Many thanks.

There is a new website www.riveraccessforall.co.uk/We are a group of ordinary canoeists who have formed a company limited by guarantee to gain recognition that there is, and always has been, a public right of navigation on our rivers. We are not Judges or Parliament so we cannot "tell" you what the true situation is. But we can show you the evidence of history, including what Parliament and Judges have said in the past. We also give others, if they can, the opportunity to explain the errors in our key assertions. We believe if you look at this evidence it will lead you to the inescapable conclusion that there is, and always has been, a Public Right of Navigation on all rivers in England & Wales, subject only to the physical constraints of the river and the size/nature of the craft using them. We have no commercial interest in the successful resolution of this issue. Our objective is simply that canoeists, swimmers and others should be able to enjoy the pleasures of our rivers through river access - for all.
