Ha, we have the opposite problem!!
I'm TT (not on any principle, just that I gave up when I got pregnant and then discovered that a year's abstention gave me the tolerance of a gnat) and my husband likes a few beers/ glasses of vino/g&ts.... There's quite a bit of "Oh if you don't want any of this nice bottle of wine I'll finish it off" that happens, so he's quite in favour of it now!
(besides which I drank an entire lifetime's ration of alcohol between 1995 and 2005 when I was on tour so I thought I should leave some for the rest of the world....)

I'm a TT too, simply because I won't eat/drink anything I don't like the taste of. I used to drink whiskey, but stopped when I left college as for me it was simply a social drink.

I know how you feel though. I felt the same when I discovered James May actually liked The Long and Winding Road....

I remember reading about this a while ago - on Wikipedia, I think. As a teetotaller myself, I was impressed that Griff doesn't feel the need to indulge in alcohol. He obviously likes to keep fit and healthy

Griff doesn't feel the need to indulge in alcohol. The story behind that - as he told in an interview - is a bit different. He had to lay off for a while because of a disease. It was then that he actually felt the need and therefore didn't start again.

He obviously likes to keep fit and healthy ...and we're all for that! Didn't he have hepatatis when he was doing Charley's Aunt or something? He talked about it at some length in the Mark Laswon interview I think. Either way, all power to him. And long may he stay fit and healthy!

Oh dear, glad he's fully recovered now,he sure looks pretty darn fit for a man of his age A colleage of mine had Hepatitis some years ago.He was the first person I'd known suffer from it, and I hadn't realised how serious it was and how you had to change your lifestyle afterwards Although I rarely get drunk as such,I do partake of a couple of glasses of vino most evenings, just out of habit I supppose. I try and have at least one day a week alcohol free, but the fact that I have to make a conscious effort to do that, concerns me sometimes. My position on drinking/not drinking from choice,is that it's an individual decision and should be repected as such.I certainly don't hold the opinion that you have to take alcohol in order to enjoy yourself, but equally I find it annoying if someone who is TT, takes a 'Holier than thou' attitude. I have an aquaintance who I see socially on occasion, and she always has to make some slightly disapproving comment, but dress it up as a joke........Yawn xx

This should set your mind at rest.......from an interview in The Resident last year! (see the Articles page for the full thing, it's lovely)
"One easily forgets in the presence of such an engagingly friendly chap, that Rhys Jones is a multi-millionaire (he and comedy partner Mel Smith sold their production company, Talkback, in 2000 for £62m) and a tee-totaller. This I can forgive him because a) he’s Griff Rhys Jones, b) he’s good company, sober or not and c) he says he gave up fine wine because he ‘liked it too much. I wasn’t an alcoholic but thought I might become one.’ Not at all puritanical, he even keeps a wine cellar for his guests at his home. Or homes....."
I'm such a nerd, I do apologise!

Hmm...think I'll pinch that as the perfect excuse for my 'wine cellar' ( wooden self-assembly rack from Argos, holding my cookery books upright).....'it's for visiting friends' ;D As for the Opera singing....I am deeply jealous! I adore listening to it but am sadly totally unable to sing. I sound like Kermit Does Karaoke if I attempt it... xx

I never get to do Puccini though, he doesn't like mezzos!
