Inspired by a traffic jam conversation on Sunday, I'm contemplating things that I just don't understand...
Such as - Brad Pitt. Why is he considered attractive? He's boring. I'd rather poke my eye out with a stick. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and all that, and probably quite a decent actor (although the words Starring Brad Pitt!! are enough to make me put the dvd straight back on the shelf) but a sex god?

I have found that the older I get,the more things I fail to understand. But whether that's an indicator that we think more deeply with age and experience,or whether I'm just going ga-ga as the old grey cells die off,I'm unsure...... Lots of what I don't get is stuff about my fellow human beings, politics, relationships etc., and all far too boring to list on here. But it's heartwarming to know someone else feels the same about Brad.....and I'd go so far as to say he's not that brilliant an actor in my humble opinion, judging on what I've seen of his work. Looks wise,he just doesn't do it for me either.I'm not drawn to that clean-cut,strong-jawed,hunky type of male at all. I like smallish, slender, slightly quirky looking guys with an animated face, not a blank canvas. One who's self-effacing,witty and has a very slight 'bumbling' air to them in a Mr Chips kind of way. And who looks equally dashing in either anorak or DJ........ ;D xx

There's tons of stuff I just don't get, from the down right boring, to the pointless, like olives, I don't get them, icky little devils, and I don't get the attraction to Wayne Rooney, just can't see it in any form.

Not thinking of anyone in particular there! Dear me,no! ;D And I agree about Rooney,Jacqueline.he reminds me of that little knitted monkey that advertises PG Tips with Johnny Vegas LOL As someone with a savoury rather than sweet tooth,I find marshmallows, candyfloss, seaside rock etc., pretty pointless. Why not just open a bag of Tate&Lyle and spoon it down? xx

Lol, I'm a sugar queen and live on sweet stuffs, one of the sweetest things I've eaten (baring sugar cubes) was some chocolate covered marshmallows.
And that probably explains why I don't get olives, ickickick.
Serious one, I don't get why there's still so much stigma attached to mental illnesses, and I don't get why a man can't wear a skirt if he wants without being commented on. Women wear trousers all the time, but they don't get called a butch lesbian.
I don't get why James Blunt is so hated either.

Neither do I, he seems like a nice chap!
I like olives (oh and cashew nuts, my besetting sin) but I am a bit of a biscuit queen! We don't to have them very much or they just vanish!

I like a little chocolate on occasion, especially the dark stuff, but anything very sugary just sets my teeth on edge.I can almost not bear to watch my daughter hoovering up that ghastly, scented Haribo mix! I like olives, mostly the black ones, especially in pasta dishes or atop a nice pizza. No one I know can understand why I love Marmite, anchovies and Balsamic vinegar (not mixed together of course LOL) On a serious note,I don't get why society is still so grossly unbalanced between the haves and have-nots.I'm certainly not advocating Communism, and I know these things are never as black and white as they appear,but....... xx

Brad Pitt and George Clooney - YUCK! I don't get lemon/lime-flavoured things, like cake or icing. Or sweets - if I want to buy a packet of wine gums, for example, I will hold several packets up to the light to see if I can judge how many of each flavour there are - the redder the packet looks, the better. I'd love to do that with fruit pastilles, but the paper covering puts a stop to it. Another thing I just don't get is the almost universal crazy love of musicals. West Side Story and Sweeney Todd aside, they do nothing for me at all.

I love olives but I certainly DON'T love Brad Pitt! I don't get George Clooney either - I'm sure he's a nice man but I can't see what there is to get excited about.

Sunday's TG in the USA episode has reminded me of something I really don't get....the allure of Las Vegas and the whole Nevada casino culture.
I've been to Nevada (Reno and Winnemucca) and spend most of the time cowering in my room, trying to avoid the ghastly seediness of the whole enterprise. All hotels all have casinos attached and slot machines are simply inescapable: there are rows of them behind the checkout in the supermarket. I gather that a lot of folk choose to live in Nevada because the gambling industry means local taxes are pretty much zero. Which I guess is understandable, but otherwise, I cannot imagine what keeps people there. It's ugly (apart from the Grand Canyon) violent, gaudy and fake.

Oh lordy yes. A friend of mine lives near there for exactly that reason, but even he finds the sheer tawdryness (is that a word?) trying. The thought of effectively setting fire to that much money gives me the wobblies, bourgeious capitalist that I am....

I've never understood the Brad Pitt thing... But it could be because he's not grey, bald, or old enough to be my grandpa....
