Just been looking again at his biog on the main site, and the thought of Himself doing 'a short stint as a bodyguard to visiting Arabs' made me chuckle again, despite having read and wondered at it before!
No offence intended but....I'm not surprised it was a 'short stint'...and was there a dire shortage of security staff at the time? ;D ;D ;D

Didn't he do this with Douglas Adams, who was about nineteen feet tall? That must have looked very entertaining.

I don't know if they ever were on watch together, but I vaguely remember an interview with Douglas Adams where he mentioned sitting at night in a hotel corridor and watching the occasional empty lift stopping at his floor. This situation inspired him to write about the lifts in "The Hitchhiker's Guide..." that were so bored by the up-and-down scenario that they ended up going sideways as well... If GRJ and DNA actually built a team that would have been entertaining on many levels, I reckon.

'Bored by the up-and-down scenario'?......sounds pretty much like my marriage....but I've never considered sideways as an option! ;D Anyhoos, enough of this filth The thought of Himself 'On Watch' in the corridor of some swish Park Lane hotel,no doubt muttering at intervals,is hilarious! And I'm on the waiting list for SD at the library,so there are others of discerning taste too it seems xx

Yes, it is still in print - but sadly no lovely piccies! I think that's a real shame actually - I can totally understand not putting family ones in but it would have been lovely to have some.... particularly from Cambridge days! It's out in paperback now as well if that's any help!
I can always lend you mine....

I don't know about pictures in the book, but thanks to your question I may find out in the near future! I just found out that the price for that book dropped into an affordable region. Usually UK books are expensive like hell around here... If you want to buy it, you'll find it in here somewhere, e.g.
