I'm not sure... it's too long ago to remember any faces exactly, but my first time probably was 1981 the cover of Not The Royal Wedding.

Oh no, this is where I look really, really, really old.....
I've always said it was the first time he appeared in NTNOCN - I used to watch it with my mum and sisters as a special staying-up-late treat (although she drew the line at my going to the stage show with them, which caused one of the few Epic Teenage Strops I ever managed)
*puts head in hands* I even used to have a poster advertising the show on my bedroom wall..... LOOK! I WAS TWELVE!
BUT apparently I'm talking out of the back of my neck anyway because it was in about 1974 when my parents took me to see an Oxford & Cambridge student production of Romeo and Juliet at the Playhouse. I had no recollection of him being in it (in fact I think I fell asleep) so it doesn't really count, but I looked out my programme the other day and lo and behold there he is in the cast photo. With very long curly hair. Wish I'd stayed awake now!

*puts head in hands* I even used to have a poster advertising the show on my bedroom wall..... You make that sound like it was a bad thing. And don't tell me you're looking old. I wish I were only twelve back in the late seventies. What happened to the poster, btw? ;D

The poster is a very sore point. I took it with me to college (yes, I know) and it got nicked during my first vacation. I was furious, but I suppose I shouldn't have left it there

I think I've got the right day...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! May your delightful manic enthusiasm for your work continue!
Hmm...when did I first see him? I think it was Smith & Jones (when it was on the first time), but I was quite young so my memory is sketchy.

I think my experience is the same as pols - NTNON (though perhaps less intense, LOL) at the age of twelve. And fannybones, I vividly remember 'Not the Royal Wedding' too.

To someone who just turned 55 isn't HAPPY BIRTHDAY just the hardest thing to say to? So I just say Kinda Lingers. Hope you'll linger on for a veeery long time!
well at least you lot are the right age Thanks! Sweet, little 16, eh? At that age you're very nice too look at, but not always that comfortable to look out of, right? Don't worry, you'll grow out of it sooner or later. I think my experience is the same as pols - NTNON (though perhaps less intense, LOL) at the age of twelve. And fannybones, I vividly remember 'Not the Royal Wedding' too. After all that fuss about the real wedding it was kind of necessary to do something subversive, wasn't it? ;D Too bad, they didn't show NTNOCN over here. It would have been nice to see that young people in neighbouring countries are driven by similar ideas. The poster is a very sore point. I took it with me to college (yes, I know) and it got nicked during my first vacation. I was furious, but I suppose I shouldn't have left it there Who would've thought of that?! Being robbed by a fellow student. Shame on them!

My first time hearing him was Funny Bones, loved that as a kid, but the first time I saw him and thought, aye, this is funny, he's cute, was Smith and Jones, what I use to watch as a kid with my dad.
Happy Birthday Griff.

Firstly....[glow=red,2,300]HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HIMSELF![/glow] And secondly....thankee kindly Alison and Polina As for 'The Royal Wedding'....remember it well as I was working on a newspaper at the time, and I was one of the unlucky ones who drew the short straw and had to work on the day, snatching glimpses of the extravaganza on the News Desk telly LOL xx
