All this talk of poetry has inspired me to delve into my Larkin again ('tis a shame he's so unfashionable now),and remind myself of how wonderful he is. Larkin unfashionbale?! How ridiculous! Who cares anyway - he's one of my favourite poets. I love his cynical honesty. Oh, that programme was marvellous. Griff was superb and gorgeous - and I don't just mean his looks. I will never tire of his artistry and passion for things ;D I loved the way he read that extract from King Lear; so funny and yet so sad. Mmm, I don't half feel the urge to recite a cheese roll!

I loved this programme!! I'll admit, being the teenager i am, i've never really found poetry that interesting. Last year after my english gcse i thought, that's it never again will i read poetry. But after having watched the programme i found myself delving into some old poetry books and to my surprise i was understanding what i was reading!! Everything that was said in the show really hit me and i now have a newfound interest ;D I was even inspired to write my own four line thing about clouds (another obsession of mine ).

I just love listening to his voice.
I keep coming back to the Yeats poem - just lovely, and I'm ashamed to say I didn't know it before.
And just to lower the tone completely, he looked pretty fantastic I thought. Love the hair.

Usually me who lowers the tone and waxes lyrical about his hair isn't it Pol? ;D But I'm eternally grateful to Himself for prompting me to Google Philip Larkin and find several sublime Youtube clips of him reading his own poetry Wonderful..... xx

Good programme: enjoyed it very much. Griff reading the Jonson poem about his son made me cry (mind you, just about anything does these days). The 'Poetry Doctor' section was amusing, and has prompted me to go and look out some Robert Frost. Loved the lady in Southend's poem about her dentist too. Exactly how many espressos had Our Man had the day he interviewed the Barnsley FC chap? ;D
