Just to let you know that Griff will be presenting the launch programme for the BBC's poetry season - I don't have any broadcast details yet but as soon as I do they will go here and on the front page!
I'm looking forward to this; his literary documentaries always really appeal to me, and I have very fond memories of Bookworm!

Caught a lovely little trailer tonight that I hadn't seen before.....Himself looking awfully dapper in Poet's Corner,Westminster Abbey He was saying something about the poets being dead, but their work living on......but I have to confess I was somewhat distracted by the absolute perfection of his hair.Artfully tousled/expertly ruffled........ Mind you,James May appeared to be communicating with his fans whilst being interviewed at the Chelsea Flower Show by asking the young (female) reporter 'Is my hair ok?' ;D xx

I'm so glad you said that, Jilly, I was having the exact same problem......I've seen it half a dozen times and still have no very clear idea what he's talking about. It's the hair.

Yes indeedy All this talk of poetry has inspired me to delve into my Larkin again ('tis a shame he's so unfashionable now),and remind myself of how wonderful he is. Also I'm reading a poem at my friend's wedding this weekend,so practising my delivery whilst being exfoliated in preparation for fake tan. Funny old world innit? xx

Oh I sooooo enjoyed this......marvellous! (and a much needed gem amongst so much dross that's on nowadays) I've said it before, but you can always trust Griff to deliver quality, and it's the type of thing he does so well isn't it? He seemed genuinely moved a couple of times when reading, and that made me recall poems that have had that effect on me.I shall be hunting out my old volumes tomorrow to find my favourites. Lovely bit of footage of Larkin too.....oooh....is it going to be repeated? I wish now I'd taped it And I'm sorry to lower the tone but just have to mention the hair........casually scrumptious is my verdict......as was Himself on the couch ;D xx

Couldn't agree more - lovely programme intelligently put together, but what else do we expect!
I thought he looked very affected by the Jonson; beautiful poem and one I didn't know. And the choice of the Yeats at the end was inspired, I thought; I found it very affecting. Yeats has always been one of my favourites (I am SO predictable).
I am however feeling hopelessly inadequate about my own creations!!
Beautiful programme - congratulations to all concerned.
