Earlier this year, Wikipedia reported that a full DVD release of NTNO'CN series one to four was due by the autumn. Wikipedia isn't always credible, of course, but given that the Not Again documentary had aired over Christmas and the At Last Smith and Jones DVD had been (fairly) recently released, I was quietly hopeful. I kept checking Play and Amazon...nothing. Eventually I sent an e-mail to 2Entertain, who handle the BBC's DVD releases these days, and I received a reply to the effect that they've decided not to go ahead with the box set because the previous DVDs (the NTNO'CN compilation editions that were previously released on video in 1995) "performed poorly in the marketplace". Here's where I pull the soapbox out... Of course they performed poorly, you fools! They were the exact same compilation episodes that were released on video fifteen years ago and shown on BBC2 the same year! People aren't going to be stupid enough to buy the same thing twice! (Calm down...) Seriously, if 2Entertain aren't going to do it (and Network, who released Wilt, had a falling out with the BBC), maybe Talkback Thames, Replay or some other independent company could be brave enough to have a stab at it? www.replaydvd.co.uk/suggestions.htm
