Welcome to the new members who have joined recently!
I gather there have been some problems for new members in activating accounts for the first time - I'm trying to find out what's causing this, so do bear with me.
If you are having troubles, please email me at the site address (administrator@griff-rhysjones.co.uk) and I will try to sort it out.
In the meantime, I don't know if this is any help, but the excellent Fanny Bones found this worked....
Hope this is all of some help!

Hello Griff I see you are starting a program about lost routes. There are one or two round here that have been lost, old bridle ways and drove roads.
There was an act of Parliament,in the 1940's, passed to give access to the countryside. All parish councils were given a map of the area and were instructed to mark all paths in their parish on this map and return it the County Council so the council could put these on to a draft map. Most members of the parish Council in those day's were either farmers or land owners , consequently a lot of paths never made it on to the draft map. This is the reason we have lost a lot of route's. I have been battling to get routes on, but the thing is getting people to give evidence of use. those that used them in the old day's are now dead and gone .
I am beging to wonder why I bother at my age. The rights of way Officers at Beverly have been very helpfull, but without evidence of use they cannot do anything. I have 2 books written by parish councillors and in both books they mention people walking on paths and yet have not added them to the rights of way map. Maybe they plead ignorance.
Best Rgards ern
