I haven't got round to reading the article yet but I love the photos. The first one made me laugh out loud. So, kudos to Polina for the link and to Paul Cornwell for the lovely pictures.

Crikey,I'd totally forgotten! Thanx for the heads up Pol,I shall be sheltering from the deluge in Cornwall then (as opposed to sheltering from it in the Midlands ),so must instruct OH to make sure it's recorded. It's not like he has anything else to do towards preparing for our hols...... xx

Hello Griff and readers I have just read the Daily Mail article on your new series (Thursday 23 page 33) and I have to agree with your comments. I have just started Kayaking to get fit (Lost 4 stone in 6 months already!) The river I use is the river Witham in Lincolnshire. British waterways charge me £40 a year to use an unpowered boat on the river and I don`t mind at all. But there is only one place in every 10 miles or so that I can put the boat into the river, every where else has "private no access" fishing club only signs on the river banks. This is all well and good but the access point near me has a nasty habit of being blocked by that omni present menace the car. Now I`m a car driver as well and I like to think I park sensibly with other peoples access points in mind, but that does not seem to even register with most people. The next little moan is with the menace of dog mess on the river side foot paths, sometimes its like an open sewer! The council and the waterways board do there best to provide bins for such things but at the end of the piece its down to the individual to minimize their impact on others. The point to all this moaning is most people do not care about others as long as they are having a good time. I do my best to move over to the other side of the river when ever I see someone fishing. Mark Lloyd should keep in mind that the rivers and canals have been used by boats just as long as they have been used for fishing, and no doubt we pay as much in fees for our legal right to go boating in peace. Sorry for the moan but the Daily Mail does that to a chap! I`m looking forward to the new series Griff please keep up the good work

I blame Pol for making me stop in Tesco and picking up the Radio Times (pronoused Rad-e-o in my neck of the woods) instead of Classic Car Magazine!! What have you done to me Pol?

I'm keeping away from the arguing on the other thread as I don't feel qualified to express my opinion! However I'm so looking forward to the new series; I think the rivers access restrictions is News to a lot of people (me included) & will result in changes similar to the rights to roam of a few years ago.
